[Text on screen] Les Vearing State Fire Investigator

[Les Vearing] So, it's about training new fire investigators that try and work out the origin and cause of bushfires.

And then for the bigger fires we'll teach them to work out the path and impact of a fire so we can trace where it's ran to on the really big days.

It's about trying to work out the cause of the fire so we can try and prevent them going forward; whether it's being deliberate in the case of arson; or whether it's been accidental, or somebody's done something that they shouldn't have; where somebody's been negligent and used things like an angle grinder or do things like illegal burning off.

We can determine where that fire has actually started so we can try and prevent fires in the future.
