Planned burning in Victoria

Planned burning is a land management tool where controlled fire is used, under carefully monitored conditions, to reduce fuels such as grass, leaves, bark, shrubs and fallen branches. Without planned burning and other bushfire risk management works, bushfires will be bigger and harder for our firefighters to control.
